She's 80 today!!
My Mom!
Winning a relay 2 years ago

Competitive Trail Ride, last October on Annie
My Mom loves this life that God has given her.  She's so positive and always encourages everyone around her to love everyday right along with her.
Naturally, she wants to have a good time
Christmas Talent Show

Halloween with her best friend, Jeannie
Even when work is HARD and dirty, she presses on with a smile and a purpose........she appreciates the earth..........and her tractor....
Tilling the Jump Pasture
She loves a good game and a good horse to practice on, .....even if her bandages don't match.......
2008 stick-n-ball at Pinto Ranch
My Mom loves her husband, my Dad of 58 years.
Mom and Dad, a good-looking couple
Oh, I love this engagement picture in 1953.  What a party, I mean a white tux!!!

And here's their wedding picture later that same year.  What style!!!

I could go on and on and I would really want to right now.  But, this is a sneak preview of a slide show coming later on sometime this year.  Oh, the pictures!!!  Oh, the model.

I LOVE my Mom.  God blessed me with her.  She was chosen to do the job she did.........raising the 3 of us.

We never gave her any trouble, though, so you know her job was easy ;)  (Well, I didn't anyway)  Just don't tell the other two I said that.  It might start one of those family arguments (for no apparent reason at all) that will go on and on, laughing and laughing until our faces ache, bringing up all the dead worms from the garden.  We love retracing old steps that when taken were rough and frightening, or alarming anyway....   but now are hilarious, especially when my Dad starts telling the stories........

This is one of my favorite recent photos with the whole family.   This blog won't let me enlarge it without taking 5 members off of the page.     Mom is in the middle on an 'ole paint'.  A Thanksgiving to remember, Viejo Springs Ranch, 2009.
We are thankful for your positive influence,  and your zest for life........and for many great stories to tell.......
Happy Birthday, Mom!!!  We love you!!!

Happy Birthday, Marcie!!What a great day--surrounded by love and happiness! I know the stories will be flowing--one of my favorite memories is the patience, love, and discipline you gave me as a 6 year old learning to ride--remember Mary B taking a bath in the stock pond...with me on her?
Love to you and yours, and Here's to Many More!! Kelly

Happy Birthday Marci! You are such a special lady in our lives! I will never forget our beginnings together when you made all the crafts for Jr. CBS! Then sending Bethany to the ranch, the years of mentoring that you and Martina gave her, and the incredible impact you were in her life! God has used you mightily and still has lots left for you to do! We miss you very much and we need to get together! Maybe Bethany and I can meet you for lunch? Have a wonderful year ahead, and keep blessing the Lord as you do!

Happy Birthday, Marcie, 80 years young! Love the photos! Your energy, enthusiasm, and faith have been an inspiration to so many young people as you have carried on the traditions and purpose of the Pinto Ranch. I have such wonderful memories of rides, horse shows, campouts, campfire singalongs, and camp programs. (Loved that Hay Haulers' Hornpipe! And the Pinto Ranch Pageant in the natural amphitheater across the road!) Hope your birthday is filled with love, laughter, and the blessings of family.

A Wayfaraing Song
O who will walk a mile with me
Along life's merry way?
A comrade blithe and full of glee,
Who dares to laugh out loud and free
And let his frolic fancy play,
Like a happy child, through the flowers gay
That fill the field and fringe the way
Where he walks a mile with me.
And who will walk a mile with me
Along life's weary way?
A friend whose heart has eyes to see
The stars shine out o'er the darkening lea,
And the quiet rest at the end o' day-
A friend who knows, and dares to say,
The brave, sweet words that cheer the way
Where he walks a mile with me.

With such a comrade, such a friend,
I fain would walk till journey's end,
Through summer sunshine, winter rain,
And then?- Farewell, we shall meet again!!!!! Henry Van Dyke

Mom, thanks for walking a 1000 miles with me, and for being my friend! I wish you a very Happy 80th birthday. All my love Hill and Boys

I love you so much Grandma. You have always been the best Grandma anyone could ask for. You taught me how to ride, play polo, swim, milk Gladys, vault, and so many other things that I could not have done without you in my life. I remember the night you made me ride out on Annie, in the dark, to shut a pasture gate that I had left open. I remember being so scared. But it also taught me a valuable lesson that I will never forget. You have been such a mentor in my life encouraging me to do whatever I put my mind to. One of my favorite things to do was play Cowboys and Indians around the Hoopes' pine trees, I still remember the day I fell of Henrietta and hurt my arm. I think back on that and laugh. I look forward to making more memories with you. Like last summer when we built and jumped jumps at Viejo. I had a blast. I want to thank you for being the worlds best Grandma.
Love you, and HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY!!!

Happy Birthday Marcie!!!

What a fabulous role model you were for us when we made that two day trip back from the horse show in the mountains. You confidently lead the way on our adventure with map in hand and fence tool in pocket. Just think...me made it to camp without a cell phone or GPS! Your "can do" attitude made the seeming impossible a reality. Tasks such as restoring an antique covered wagon to its former glory and transforming city kids into decent ranch hands, came naturally for you.

I am forever grateful for the time that I got to spend with you and your family at Pinto Ranch. You are truly a blessing.

Love, Kelly Ward Thulin

Aunt Marcie,
Really can't believe it... time... and your youthful glow, still, at 80. I'll stop over for some counsel on how to make that happen in my own life.

I think my favorite memories are traveling in the gooseneck trailer with horses and cows to Texas across the hot desert, sitting inside the tack compartment with all the luggage, waving a red rag out the sides of the trailer to signal that we needed to stop... once, maybe, to have you break up an argument?... but mostly the laughter. So much laughter. In the hay barn at your house in Midland, Hillary and I would wear ourselves out with laughter. And I'll never forget your high-pitched wonder at what "you girls had gotten yourselves into this time." So many times over the years, you took me in as your own to teach, to help me explore, see a new part of the world, ride. Be with horses -- that was the center of it all -- and what a glorious center to experience as a young person. Thank you for giving so much to me, to all of us over the years. I am richer for knowing you, and better yet, for being related to you. With love,
Kimberly
